Description

CICA-CARE is a soft, comfortable and easy to use adhesive gel sheet made from medical grade silicone. It is durable, each piece lasting on average 14-28 days, with clinically proven therapeutic and preventative properties for unsightly, red, raised scars. Each gel sheet may be cut to fit one or more scar sizes, with a small overlap over the surrounding skin.

 

Indications

CICA-CARE is designed for use

1.     in the management of both existing and new red, raised scars (hypertrophic/keloidal).

2.     as a preventative therapy on healed wounds to help prevent red, raised scars.

 

Contra-Indications

Do not use on open or infected wounds.

 

Instructions for use

1.          Wash hands before use.

2.          Gently clean the scar and surrounding skin with a mild soap and rinse in clean warm water. Thoroughly dry the scar and surrounding skin.

3.          Remove gel sheet from tray.

4.          Cut get sheet, if necessary, to fit scar size, with a small overlap over the surrounding skin.

5.          Remove printed plastic sheet.

6.          Apply gel sheet, adhesive side to the scar, no stretching. If necessary a light bandage or adhesive tape can be use to keep CICA-CARE in place.

7.          For first two days use CICA-CARE for 4 hours per day.

8.          For next two days use CICA-CARE for 8 hours per day.

9.          Continue to increase wear time by 2 hours per day until a minimum of XI hours per days is reached. If passible CICA-CARE should be worn 24 hours per day.

10.      Wash CICA-CARE, and the scar and surrounding skin, at least twice daily with mild non oily soap and rinse in clean warm water, pad skin dry.

 

11.      Leave to dry the CICA-CARE and reapply. Avoid using paper product (e.g. kitchen towels) or towels to dry the CICA-CARE Sheet as it can be adhered to the sheet.

12.      When CICA-CARE begins to wear or cleaning is difficult, it should be replaced. This usually occurs at 14-28 day intervals. The total therapy time should be in the range of 2 to 4 months.

13.      Young Children use of CICA-CARE need to secure with an appropricate secondary dressing.

 

Precautions for use

ü   Follow instructions for use carefully.

ü   Do not use on open wound.

ü   Do not use with ointments or creams under gel sheet.

ü   In some patients, a rash or wrinkling has been observed on the scar and surrounding skin.

ü   Should a rash occur, reduce CICA-CARE therapy time to 12 hours on, 12 hours off.

ü   If the rash persists, discontinue use and consult your physician.

ü   On surgical incisions, use CICA-CARE only after sutures have been removed.
