Product Description

Lonaderm Naftifine Hydrochloride

Composition:

1g of the cream contains:

Naftifine Hydrochloride 10mg

Properties & actions:

Lonaderm is an antimycotic for external application. Its active ingredient is Naftifine.

Naftifine is active against cutaneous fungi (dermatophytes e.g. trichophytes, microsporon and epidermophyton species), yeasts (Candida species, Pityriasis versicolor), molds (Aspergillus species) and other fungi (e.g. Sporothrix Schenkii).

For dermatophytes and Aspergillus species naftifine is fungicidal in vitro. For yeasts it is fungicidal or fungistatic depending on the strain involved. Aside from its antimycotic action, naftifine also has antibacterial activity against various gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, which commonly occur in association with fungal disease.

Clinically, naftifine was found to have an intrinsic antinflammatory action, which causes a rapid subsidence of signs of inflammation, mainly pruritus. As Lonaderm readily penetrates the skin and is present in the various skin layers at sustained antimycotic concentrations, it is well suited for topical treatment in once-daily doses.

Indications:

In the treatment of

ü   mycotic infections of the skin or skin folds (Tinea corporis, Tinea inguinalis)

ü   interdigital mycoses (Tinea manuum, Tinea pedum)

ü   mycotic infections of the nails (onychomycoses)

ü   Candida infections of the skin -Pityriasis versicolor

ü   Inflammatory dermatomycoses (with and without pruritus)

Mode of Application: For local application to the skin or nails only.

Dosage:

Apply Lonaderm once daily to the affected skin area and its vicinity after thorough cleaning and drying. To prevent recurrent infection continue treatment with Lonaderm for at least 2 weeks after clinical healing.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to naftifine.

Pregnancy and lactation:

If properly used, effects on the fetus or infant are unlikely to occur. Teratologic studies did not produce any evidence of an embryotoxic effect of naftifine.

Side effects:

Signs of local irritation like dryness, reddening and burning may sporadically occur.

Side effects are always reversible and do not necessitate drug withdrawal.

Special warning for safe use: Lonaderm cream should be kept away from the eyes.
