Product Description

Actein Granules 20 mg/g (Acetylcysteine)

Composition:

Each gram contains: Acetylcysteine 20 mg/g.

Each sachet contains: Acetylcysteine 100mg, excipients q.s. 5g.

Orange-flavored.

Action:

The N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is the N-acetyl derivative of the naturally occurring amino acid L-cysteine. NAC as a mucolytic agent results from its sulfahydryl interacting with disulfide bonds in mucoprotein, with the mucus subsequently being broken into less viscous units. NAC has marked mucolytic properties which reduce the viscosity and tenacity of mucus in the respiratory tract, and has been shown to dramatically reduce the viscosity and tenacity of sputum. The liquefying action is due to the presence of a free sulfahydryl group which opens up disulphide bonds present in mucus.

Indication:

Actein is indicated as adjuvant treatment in certain clinical conditions characterized by the presence of thick and viscous mucoid or mucopurulent secretions such as:

-Chronic bronchopulmonary diseases (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema with bronchitis, chronic asthmatic bronchitis, bronchiectasis)

-Acute bronchopulmonary disease (asthma with bronchial mucus plugging, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, tracheobronchitis, bronchiolitis, pulmonary complications of cystic fibrosis, pulmonary complications associated with surgery.)
